Adventures
The East End of Roatan offers one the most secluded cruising grounds around the island. This area rarely sees tourists & you will be able to see & feel the 'real' Roatan. Famous in its past as a hide out for pirates during the 1700’s, Port Royal now is sparsely populated by only a few homes & out-of-the way resorts. Our adventures leave from the little town of Oakridge, at the east end of the island where the road ends.
All sailings include homemade snacks, a freshly prepared BBQ lunch, all beverages (soda, bottled water, local beer & spirits) & snorkeling gear. We keep our passenger count at a comfortable level so our guests have ample room to lounge in the sun on deck or sit comfortably shaded & allows our crew to provide the highest level of customer service.
Cruise Ship Sail & Snorkel Excursion
For Cruise Ship passengers, we are pleased to offer a 4-hour excursion to our unspoiled, uncrowded east end of the island. The charter includes transportation to & from the cruise ship dock, snacks, lunch, all beverages (soda, bottled water, local beer & blender drinks like Pina Coladas) & snorkeling gear.
The 4 hours is the time you spend on the boat. Our main concern is getting you back to your ship on time so it may be that your trip is adjusted slightly to take this into account if needed.
The day starts off with a pickup at your cruise ship dock. You are transported across almost the entire island, which makes for a nice island tour with pretty views, to the east end of the island. This is about a 45 minute drive. Your driver will deliver you to a little village called Oakridge, where we will be waiting at the dock with the catamaran & your crew.
Once aboard the boat, we will cast off & set sail to the east, to the beautiful & unspoiled Port Royal. This is about a 40 minute trip. We duck outside the reef & then back inside the protected waters in Port Royal where we will make our snorkeling stop at either the Cow & the Calf or Horseshoe depending upon weather. On your way to Port Royal, you are served homemade muffins & fresh made salsa. Then you swim & play in the water to your heart's content. We have good, strong crew who are excellent swimmers & divers, & you will be safe under their care.
After snorkeling, you are treated to a freshly prepared BBQ lunch & beverages service. Guests can lounge in the sun on the nets at the bows, or relax in the shade under the hardtop & awnings in the large cockpit. When it's time to leave, we hoist the sails & sail back to Oakridge, where we say our farewells & return you to your driver for the return trip to your ship.
East End Snorkel & Sail Day
For guests staying on our beautiful island, we offer a full day (approx. 6 hours) of snorkeling & sailing in the unspoiled, uncrowded Port Royal. Starting from the fishing village of Oakridge at the east end of the island, we come out of the channel & sail east. Along the way we will describe the east end of the island & its communities.
Port Royal has three great snorkel destinations. "The Cow & Calf" - tiny rocky islets with their many unique coral & fan formations. "The Horseshoe" offers a vast array of reef fish & usually sightings of rays. & "The Wreck "- an upside down little shipwreck with an amazing collection of fish & star fish. We will make 2 – 3 stops depending upon weather. Our local snorkel guides know the area like their own backyard & will show you all the best snorkel spots.
